Fandango members may have access to the upcoming Stephen King adaptation Doctor Sleep over a week before its wide theatrical release and just in time for Halloween.
Fandango VIP members will have the chance to see Doctor Sleep on October 30, nine days before its theatrical U.S release. Fandango is offering these screenings at about 400 theaters nationwide, with major theater chains like AMC Theatres and Regal participating. Tickets for the limited event go on sale today, and can be purchased exclusively on Fandango’s website. Warner Bros. is hoping that these early screenings will make seeing the movie more of an event, and will generate buzz that will help sell tickets when the movie is officially released.
Doctor Sleep, based on the King novel of the same name, follows Danny Torrance decades after the events of The Shining. As Danny copes with the traumatic experiences as a child at the Overlook Hotel, he learns a cult is hunting individuals for their psychic abilities. Danny must protect a young girl stalked by the cult and their devious leader Rose, the Hat.
Doctor Sleep, which centers on the adult Danny Torrance years after the traumatic events at the Overlook Hotel, stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Carl Lumbly, Alex Essoe and Zahn McClarnon. It’s scheduled for release on Nov. 8.
