Robert Downey Jr. Wants Ironheart in the MCU

Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. has publicly expressed his support for bringing Ironheart to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Over the weekend, there was a gala held at the Gene Siskel Film Center, during which Eve Ewing – writer of the Ironheart solo comic – introduced Downey Jr. on stage. According to Ewing, the actor used the moment to tell the crowd that he thinks the teenage hero, Ironheart should be in the MCU as Iron Man’s replacement, which is definitely something Ewing could get behind going by her excitable tweet.

First appearing in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man #7, Riri Williams/Ironheart was created by Brian Michael Bendis, Mike Deodato and later re-designed by Ewing and Kevin Libranda. A genius inventor, Williams creates her own suit of armor similar to that of Iron Man, catching the billionaire futurist’s eye. She’s become one of Marvel Comics fan favorite heroes and is currently part of the Champions team alongside Miles Morales/Spider-Man, Viv Vision, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and more.

Ironheart #8, by writer Eve Ewing and artist Luciano Vecchio, hits shelves July 10.
