A new fan poster brings all of the DC Extended Universe‘s current heroes together, including Robert Pattinson’s Batman. The DCEU has changed greatly since it began in 2013 with Man of Steel. Back then, Warner Bros. aimed to create a shared universe with their DC films similar to the MCU. However, DC struggled to replicate Marvel’s success and has since begun to move away from that format. While several of their upcoming films will still take place within the DCEU and feature characters who have already been established in other films, DC is no longer putting all of its focus on how those films are connected.
This was demonstrated with last year’s Joker, which took the popular DC Comics villain and crafted a brand new origin story. However, it had no ties whatsoever to the DCEU. Meanwhile, the most recent DC movie, Birds of Prey, had plenty of ties to the extended universe, mainly though Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. At the same time, Birds of Prey‘s story was decidedly a standalone adventure that focused more on its own characters than the broader world.
Despite all that, fans take pleasure in knowing these characters still exist in the same place. A fan poster created by Mohammed Hibban brings all of those beloved heroes together. The roster includes Batman, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Shazam (Zachary Levi), and Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson). You can see it for yourself in the space below:
Most of the characters included in the poster are expected to appear in solo films over the next few years, with Wonder Woman 1984 being the next to arrive in August. Pattinson will make his highly-anticipated debut in next year’s The Batman, which may or may not take place within the DCEU. Finally, after years of waiting, Johnson will get to step into the role of Black Adam for his own film, though he’ll have to wait a bit longer to get started. Filming on Black Adam was pushed to late summer, though it’s still on track for a December 2021 release.
Beyond the arrival of Aquaman 2 in 2022, DC’s slate is unknown. There are numerous films that have been in development for a long time now, like Supergirl and New Gods, and they could end up filling the void in the future. The real question on fans’ minds is if there will ever be a massive team-up movie again, like Justice League. Right now, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards, but things could always change in the future. Even if it doesn’t, the DCEU will continue on in its own way.
