Avengers: Endgame passes Avatar to become the second highest-grossing film all-time at the domestic box office.
According to Box Office Mojo, Endgame now stands at $770.8 million domestically, moving past the $760.5 million earned by Avatar. It now only trails Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.6 million) on the domestic charts.
Avengers: Endgame is also the second-highest grossing movie of all time worldwide, having earned $2.56 billion globally, surpassing James Cameron’s Titanic. At the worldwide box office, Endgame still trails Avatar‘s $2.78 billion total by $224 million.
Endgame held on to the weekend crown for three straight weeks, but is now going up against the likes of Detective Pikachu and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (which won the weekend with a franchise-best $57 million domestically). With more high-profile films on the way, Endgame business might be slowing down a bit, which will hurt its chances of unseating Star Wars.
