A new poster for Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey has been released which pays tribute to the NBC sitcom, Friends.
A new piece of promo art for the film has made the rounds online, seemingly from DC’s photo-op station at New York Comic-Con. The art allows DC fans to pose alongside Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), in a set-up that parodies the iconic sitcom Friends.
Given the irreverent energy that Birds of Prey is expected to bring to the big screen, this Friends homage feels like a pretty perfect fit. The film will see its quintet of characters team up under unexpected circumstances to defeat the malicious crime lord Black Mask.
Friends, of course, was a sitcom that ran on NBC from 1994-2004. A big hit at the time, the show would eventually find a new audience on Netflix which has notably fought and paid huge amounts of money to keep the show on its streaming service. From the look of things, the people behind Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey were fans of Friends as well.
Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey will be released in theaters on February 7, 2020.
