The latest Black Panther 2 fan poster makes Doctor Doom the next MCU villain. Following the incredible success of 2018’s Black Panther, a sequel seemed inevitable. After all, Black Panther became the highest-grossing MCU solo movie and went on to be nominated for seven Academy Awards. After surprisingly not being included among the initial Phase 4 calendar, Black Panther 2 scored an official release date last year at the D23 convention, which also confirmed Ryan Coogler will be back as writer-director. Black Panther 2 is currently slated for release in May 2022, and fans are eager for a new update about where the film will take T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman).

One of the biggest questions currently surrounding Black Panther 2 is, who exactly will be the villain? Since the first Black Panther had an incredibly well-developed villain in Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), expectations are high. There are several possible contenders for Black Panther 2′s big bad, from the first film’s antagonist-turned-ally M’Baku (Winston Duke) to Namor the Sub-Mariner, who was seemingly teased in Avengers: Endgame. Another villain fans are particularly interested in is Doctor Doom, who many are expecting to appear in MCU in the near future.

This new fan poster for Black Panther 2 from Camille Vialet imagines Doctor Doom as the MCU’s latest big bad. He looms large over T’Challa, and his appearance matches that from the comics. It’s safe to say he would make a formidable opponent for the king of Wakanda. You can see the poster for yourself in the space below.

Doctor Doom has been brought to the big screen twice before in various Fantastic Four films. Despite being one of the more well-known Marvel villains, his appearances in those movies struggled to properly adapt Doctor Doom in a way that would satisfy fans. Of course, the same could probably said for the Fantastic Four themselves. Now that Marvel Studios has regained the rights to the Fantastic Four, they’re expected to join the MCU sometime in the future. It would make sense that Doctor Doom would arrive with them, though whether his debut is actually in a Fantastic Four film remains to be seen.

Doctor Doom would certainly make a thrilling antagonist for Black Panther 2, and seeing as nothing has been confirmed for this film, anything could happen. Reportedly, Black Panther 2 will begin production in early 2021, which means early story details could begin to emerge near the end of this year. At the very least, fans will want to know which Marvel villain will take on T’Challa, so hopefully that reveal comes sooner rather than later.
