Henry Golding has entered talks to play Snake Eyes in the upcoming G.I. Joe live-action movie spinoff about the character. Although Golding is probably best known for his role as Nick Young in Crazy Rich Asians, the actor also played Sean Townsend in A Simple Favor. He’s also set to star in Monsoon and Last Christmas, a romantic comedy also featuring Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke.

THR is reporting Golding has entered talks to star in the Snake Eyes movie. The film will be a joint production between Paramount and Skydance.

First appearing in 1982, Snake Eyes is an original member of the G.I. Joe team and one of its most popular. The character was played by Ray Park (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) in 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013’s G.I. Joe Retaliation. The ninja commando does not reveal his face or speak, leaving him something of a mystery. However, producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura teased in April the character might indeed have a voice in his solo film.

Paramount’s reported end goal is to launch an entire cinematic universe of Hasbro movies, with the potential for cross-overs between the biggest sub-franchises (like G.I. Joe and Transformers). In addition to Snake Eyes, they are actively developing a Micronauts film and Dungeons & Dragons reboot for release in 2021 and have another Transformers sequel in the pipeline.
