Original Ghostbusters actor Ernie Hudson reveals in an online video message that he’s currently filming scenes for Jason Reitman’s upcoming sequel.
The actor, who portrayed team member Winston Zeddemore in the classic 1984 original film and its 1989 sequel, confirmed his participation in Jason Reitman’s sequel after revealing this past July that he had not yet reached a deal with the filmmakers for his return.
“We’re shooting the new Ghostbusters right now, coming out next summer, so I’m hoping that you’ll enjoy it as much as the other movies that we’ve done,” announced Hudson in his familiar Ghostbusters uniform on a video message on the celebrity interaction site Cameo. “I know that I’m having a blast doing it.”
After the film’s announcement earlier this year, Hudson revealed that he had yet to be approached about participating, and then later said he reached out to Jason Reitman directly. Clearly that led to his return for Ghostbusters 2020, although it’s still unknown just how much of the movie Winston Zeddemore will be a factor in.
Ghostbusters 2020 is directed by Jason Reitman, who also co-wrote the film with Gil Kenan. The film stars Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd and Mckenna Grace. The film is scheduled for release on July 20, 2020.
