A Godzilla vs. Kong toy leak seemingly spoils the inclusion of Mechagodzilla, which would make the mechanized villain the fifth Toho monster to appear in Legendary’s MonsterVerse.
At a toy convention in Hong Kong, action figures associated with Godzilla vs. Kong were unveiled, and one in particular stands out (see the photo below, posted online by Twitter user MonsterKing2019-2020). An action figure of Mechagodzilla features an all-new design of the robotic kaiju, which is an indication that the toy is indeed tied to the movie, and not associated with any past version of Mechagodzilla. Mechagodzilla’s reveal is huge news for Godzilla vs. Kong, and it could potentially be a spoiler for its overarching story.
The other big reveal — Kong’s new, ginormous size and armor — isn’t as much of a surprise. Kong: Skull Island made it clear that the powerful primate was young and still growing, and fans got a glimpse of a much-taller Kong in a clip played at Comic-Con Experience (CCXP) in Brazil last month. Godzilla is expected to be the same size as he was in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Godzilla vs. Kong had been slated for a March 2020 release but was pushed back to Nov. 20, 2020. It will star Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things and King of the Monsters, as well as her on-screen father Kyle Chandler and newcomer Alexander Skarsgard.
