Nearly a year since Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s release in theaters and Sony has officially released the Spider-Ham animated short included on the home video release of the Academy Award-winning feature film.
Cheekily titled “Caught in a Ham,” John Mulaney returns to voice Peter Porker in this short animated feature, which gives viewers a much longer look at Spider-Ham’s home dimension. The evil Dr. Craw-Daddy tries to “pig-nap” the hero, but it won’t be that easy to keep him and his signature mallet down. There are tons of nods to older animation staples, and there are some easter eggs for viewers that wonder how Spider-Ham got dragged into the larger plot of Into the Spider-Verse.
Reminiscent of a classic Looney Toon, the animated short has Spider-Ham run through the more memorable villains within his rogues gallery as he faces off against Doctor Craw-Daddy in an unabashedly wacky adventure.
Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse stars Shameik Moore, Brian Tyree Henry, Jake Johnson, Mahershala Ali, Hailee Steinfeld, Liev Schreiber, Luna Lauren Velez, Lily Tomlin, Nicolas Cage, John Mulaney and Kimiko Glenn. The film is available on digital HD, UltraHD, 4K, Blu-ray and DVD.
