James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad team roster is reportedly revealed to include the likes of DC Comics’ King Shark, Peacemaker, Polka-Dot Man and more, according to Collider.

Starting off with Peacemaker, he has been around since 1966. He is a “peace agent” who loves peace so much that he would kill for it. The big news here is that James Gunn reportedly wants Dave Bautista for the role. Based on his performance as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, this character seems to fit him like a glove.

The most famous name on the list is King Shark. He was actually a member of DC Comics’ Suicide Squad, joining the team in 2011. This is a curious addition, as the character just appeared on The CW’s The Flash.

Ratcatcher was introduced in 1985 as a Batman villain. While male in the comics, reports indicate that the character will be played by a woman in Gunn’s film. Deadshot will reportedly act as a “surrogate father” for the villain.

Polka-Dot Man is also a Batman villain, originally appearing in 1962 as a man who uses polka dots as weapons. Through it all, the villains seem just bizarre enough to fit James Gunn’s taste as a filmmaker.

When it was first reported Gunn would be scripting Suicide Squad 2, it was also revealed he wouldn’t be crafting a direct sequel to Ayer’s movie. Instead, he’d likely have a different Task Force X team roster, aside from the mainstays like Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Deadshot (Will Smith). It’s since been confirmed Harley Quinn will return for the Suicide Squad sequel. However, Smith dropped out of The Suicide Squad due to scheduling conflicts and it was recently reported Idris Elba is in talks to play Deadshot in the upcoming film. Now, the rest of Gunn’s Suicide Squad roster is filling out.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters Aug. 6, 2021.
