The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced its full list of 2020 Oscar nominations with Joker leading the pack with a whopping 11 nominations.
The film, which served as a dark origin for the Clown Prince of Crime, was nominated for Best Picture, while director Todd Phillips is in the running for Best Director. Unsurprisingly, shortly after his Golden Globes win, star Joaquin Phoenix has also been nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Joker was nominated for the following awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing.
The only other comic book film nominated is Avengers: Endgame, which has a single nomination for Best Visual Effects.
Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham. The film is currently available on Digital HD, Blu-ray, 4K UHD and DVD.
