Some stunning new fan art by a talented Reddit creator shows Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man 3. Ant-Man 3 set to follow the further adventures of Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, aka Ant-Man and Wasp, respectively. Although not much is known about the film so far, it’s been hinted that the pair will further explore the Quantum Realm, as well as receive new costumes.
Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors has been tapped to play Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming film. Majors rose to fame for his performance in The Last Black Man in San Francisco, as well as his appearance in Spike Lee’s drama Da 5 Bloods. Now, he currently stars as Atticus Freeman on HBO’s Lovecraft Country, which has been praised for its unflinching look at the Black experience in America.
Reddit artist arkintyagi has created some incredible fan art depicting Jonathan Majors in his new role of Kang. The art is in poster form, showing Majors as Kang, dressed in the Conqueror’s traditional green and purple costume. The poster examines Majors from a lower focal point, making him appear every bit as intimidating as one would expect Kang the Conqueror to. You can check out arkintyagi’s stunning work below:
arkintyagi also stamped the words “KANG” behind Majors’ head in upper-case, block letters, which is contrasted against a red gradient background. It’s clear that the creator is attempting to emphasize the power and authority that radiates from the piece of concept art, which certainly does Kang the Conqueror justice. While Kang hasn’t made an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, he’s long been presented as a fierce, time-traveling foe of the Avengers team. Although Kang has gone through multiple iterations within various comic books, each one shows him collecting weapons, building armies, and using technology to the best of his advantage. As a result, arkintyagi’s creation of Majors as Kang is an incredible tribute to the Conqueror himself.
While mainstream Marvel viewers may not be as familiar with Kang the Conqueror, it’s clear that fans are already incredibly excited about what’s to come. For one, a variety of fan art has already been appearing from fans eager to see Majors step into the role of Kang. Unfortunately, Ant-Man 3 is still a ways off from completion, with Marvel executives tentatively aiming for a 2022 release date. Until then, though, it looks like fans will just need to wait a while longer before official set photos arrive, although it’s hard to imagine how any promotional poster will look better than what arkintyagi has created.
