Sony has released a brand new trailer for Dwayne Johnson’s Jumanji: The Next Level also starring Karen Gillen, Kevin Hart and Jack Black.
The sequel has the teenage protagonists of the previous film re-enter the video game world of Jumanji to rescue their friend Spencer after he’s lost inside the immersive reality. As the friends resume control of their respective avatars within the game, they find it has changed significantly since the last time they played.
While the first trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level debuted back in July, the new footage from the film gives fans a better look at the comedy and new team dynamic from the Jumanji sequel. With Danny DeVito and Donald Glover also joining the cast, fans are already excited to see the latest adventure. Jumanji star Dwayne Johnson recently teased the arrival of the new trailer with a hilarious Halloween video from Kevin Hart.
The upcoming film is the third installment in the Jumanji franchise, which began with the 1995 fantasy adventure film starring Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Bonnie Hunt and Bradley Pierce. Jumanji introduced the magical board game that unleashed villainous hunters, vicious animals and warped entire environments as it was played. The sequel turned the board game into a video game and introduced entirely new characters to the franchise. After Welcome to the Jungle earned $962 million worldwide in 2017, a sequel was quickly greenlit and put into production.
Jumanji: The Next Level will hit theaters on Dec. 13. Jake Kasdan returns to direct the movie which stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner.
