Jurassic World 3 is officially bringing back the original Jurassic Park actors Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.
At a recent Jurassic World screening at the Arclight Los Angeles, director Colin Trevorrow introduced Laura Dern and revealed that all three of the original stars are set to appear in the next Jurassic World film, with Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum each reprising their respective roles. Trevorrow did not provide specific details but assured fans that all three will play “a major role in Jurassic World.”
What’s interesting is that this will mark the first time since Spielberg’s Jurassic Park released in 1993 that all three actors will appear together in a Jurassic Park movie. They were all in the first film, but only Goldblum returned for the sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which released four years later. Then another four years after that, Neill and Dern reprised their roles for Jurassic Park 3 – but in that case, Dern only had a very brief park in the beginning and towards the end. It was really Neill’s movie to shine in.
Although the stars of Jurassic World, as well as Trevorrow himself, have given audiences a rough idea of what to expect, the upcoming film is still in the early stages of development. Trevorrow is currently writing Jurassic World 3 with co-writer Emily Carmichael. The two recently completed an eight-minute short film entitled Battle at Big Rock, which seemed to hint at the direction in which Jurassic World 3 is likely to go.
Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World 3, starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum. The film is set to be released on June 11, 2021.
