Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has just offered a few more details about the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first openly gay hero, who will debut in Eternals.

Speaking to GMA after Marvel’s D23 presentation, Feige confirmed Eternals features an openly-gay hero (a first for the franchise). And although he held off on revealing the character’s identity for the time being, Feige explained “He’s married, he’s got a family, and that is just part of who he is”.

Notably, Feige did not reveal who that openly gay family man is but fans have been speculating for some time that it could be Ikaris, who will be played by Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden. Ikaris is one of the main characters in Jack Kirby’s original The Eternals comic.

Created by Jack Kirby, the Eternals are a race of immortal, superpowered beings who were created by the Celestials. Although they’ve been alluded to in other MCU films, this movie will mark their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. Plot details about the film are not known at this time.

Directed by Chloé Zhao with a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, Eternals stars Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Gemma Chan as Sersi and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, aka the Black Knight. The film arrives in theaters on November 6, 2020.
