Thor Love and Thunder Promo Art

New promo art for Thor: Love and Thunder shows Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane Foster a.k.a. Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman) using lightning powers. Marvel Studios confirmed plans for a fourth solo movie starring the God of Thunder at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, two years after Thor: Ragnarok reinvigorated audience interest in the hero. The Phase 4 Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is directed by Taika Waititi once again. In addition to bringing back Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie from the prior installment, the big surprise for the film was Marvel announcing Portman’s return as Jane Foster and that she’d become a superhero.

Portman didn’t return for Thor: Ragnarok after not having a great time on Thor: The Dark World. But, Marvel Studios and Waititi convinced her to return for the fourth film as part of a revamped role that sees her become Mighty Thor and wield a repaired Mjolnir. There has been great interest in seeing the two Thors together in Thor: Love and Thunder ever since. With the movie’s July release date growing increasingly near, the lack of marketing materials has created even great anticipation to see anything from the Phase 4 MCU film.

A new look at Thor and Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor has now been revealed. Shop Disney’s UK website recently received an update for Disney’s various 2022 projects. As part of the update, a new piece of promotional art was put in place for a Thor: Love and Thunder merchandise section that is coming soon. The art shows Hemsworth’s Thor and Portman’s Mighty Thor gearing up for a fight, as Stormbreaker and the repaired Mjolnir are charged with lightning. Both characters are also wearing their new costumes for the sequel.

This is the latest look at Thor: Love and Thunder to surface online as the wait for a teaser trailer continues. Jane Foster’s Mjolnir and Thor’s new blue and gold costume have both been highlighted in prior merchandising, but now they’re united as they leap into action. Unfortunately, Thor: Love and Thunder‘s villain Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) is not featured here. He is who the two MCU superheroes will fight in the movie, so a similar moment as shown in this art could have Gorr on the receiving end of Stormbreaker and Mjolnir’s lightning strikes.

As more promotional materials for Thor: Love and Thunder become available, it should point to the start of the marketing campaign beginning in earnest soon. Hemsworth already confirmed that he, Thompson, and Waititi have started long lead press for the movie. This post even ignited new speculation about when the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer will be released. Hopefully Disney’s UK website preparing to sell merchandise indicates that it is right around the corner.
