Lucasfilm officially announces Triple Force Friday, a special event to celebrate the arrival of merchandise from Star Wars: Episode IX and The Mandalorian. Ever since Disney began producing new Star Wars movies, the release of the films themselves wasn’t the only exciting thing to look forward to. Months before each feature arrived in theaters, new toys and other assorted merchandise would hit store shelves simultaneously, on what was dubbed Force Friday.
This year, they’re changing that to Triple Force Friday, since it will include action figures, clothing, collectibles, and books for three new projects set in the galaxy far, far away.
Lucasfilm and Disney formally announced today that Triple Force Friday will take place on October 4, 2019. The name of the event stems from the fact three Star Wars releases will be represented. In addition to Episode IX and The Mandalorian, there will also be products related to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a new video game releasing this holiday season.
Toymaker Hasbro, which holds the license on Star Wars playthings, hasn’t shown any of the products yet, and don’t expect any until the movie itself is showcased at the Star Wars Celebration fan gathering in Chicago this April.
As part of the announcement at New York Toy Fair today, Disney also said it will launch a new line of toys that same day for Frozen II, which hits theaters on Nov. 22.
