Marvel Studios president is making a move to Star Wars, as he’ll produce a new movie in the galaxy far, far away.

In a surprising piece of news from THR, it has been revealed that Feige will work with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy to develop a new Star Wars movie for Disney. At this time, there are no details on what Feige’s movie will be or when it will come out. But, the idea came as a result of a recent meeting between Feige, Kennedy, studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman. Here’s Horn’s statement on the matter:

We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.

It is not a secret that Feige is a huge Star Wars fan. The mega-producer has always been very vocal of his love for the franchise, and there have been plenty of nods to the beloved franchise throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While little is known regarding his Star Wars project, this deal is said to have come together in recent months, with Feige having sat down with Kennedy and studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman in the late summer to discuss the project. While things still appear to be in the early stages, Feige is said to have approached a “major actor” concerning a role in a Star Wars film he was hopeful to make.

Kennedy has been president of Lucasfilm since 2012, while Feige has presided over Marvel Studios since 2008’s Iron Man, which went on to launch the ever-expanding MCU. This will mark the first collaboration between the two.
