Leaked set photos have revealed the first look at Angelina Jolie’s Thena from Marvel Studios’ Eternals.
The latest image shows Angelina Jolie, the iconic actor who was just seen in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, rocking her costume as Thena, who originally served as the Greek goddess Athena’s personal representative on Earth. The image was recently shared online by Daily Mail:
The photos seem to reflect a fairly comics-accurate look, as a blonde Jolie can be seen sporting a gold bodysuit with a pronounced headdress and accents. It also falls in line with the artist-rendered look shared by Marvel Studios at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
“She’s a warrior,” Jolie said of Thena in July. “I’m going to have to work very hard to give the Marvel Cinematic Universe the Thena they deserve.”
Directed by Chloé Zhao with a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, Eternals stars Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Gemma Chan as Sersi and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, aka the Black Knight. The film arrives in theaters on Nov. 6, 2020.
