Did Star Wars Episode IX’s Title Just Leak? The reported title would be perfect for the upcoming film if it proves to be true. Director J.J. Abrams has been hard at work filming the Skywalker saga finale since last summer, and has almost wrapped. That means Lucasfilm will finally commence the marketing campaign for their latest blockbuster, slowly sharing information on their terms to steadily build hype until Episode IX’s December release.

Reddit user daviebaby8666 posted an image on the r/movies page of a supposed “Episode 9 title leak,” which shows the movie will be called Balance of the Force. The design of the title card is similar to the previous installments of the sequel trilogy, with the main Star Wars logo in purple. And while only time will tell whether this is the real thing or yet another fake, it’s still an unusually fitting title given the recent conflict and discourse around the Sequel Trilogy.

Episode IX has the added pressure of being the finale in a nine movie series. The original Star Wars fans have been following the franchise for decades, and are eager to see how George Lucas’ iconic role ends. This includes the fate of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher’s General Leia, and Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian, who are all set to appear in Episode IX.

Kylo Ren’s principles will also likely be a focal point of the upcoming movie, as he was shown displaying some vulnerability and empathy through his shared visions with Rey in The Last Jedi. And while he ultimately ascended to the role of Supreme Leader, Rey seems determined to bring him to The Light eventually.

Balance of the Force checks off all the boxes one looks for when trying to predict a Star Wars movie title, so of all the possibilities out there, it seem like a realistic and inspired choice.
