Power Rangers alumLudi Lin is reportedly in consideration to land the lead role in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi, and Donnie Yen could join him in a different role.

According to ThatHashtagShow, Lin is in the running for the title role. No other actors have been brought in for the part of Shang-Chi just yet, but more names are expected to surface over the next few weeks. Shazam!‘s Ross Bulter is also rumored to be in consideration for the part.

Meanwhile, Marvel is courting Yen for a role that has been kept under wraps. The report speculates he could play “a wise, old statesman,” which may line him up for a villainous role.

Lin is a skilled martial artist who stands 5’10” tall and has demonstrated that ability in Power Rangers and most recently during sections of Black Mirror. Butler, on the other hand, does know martial arts too but is 6’2″, which would give Shang-Chi a much more imposing presence on screen. Both actors have recently done DC roles, with Lin in Aquaman and Butler in Shazam!.

Marvel is on track to begin production this fall, with the report slating it for a November start. As such, Shang-Chi could take the February 12, 2021 release date staked out by Disney, which coincides with the Chinese/Lunar New Year.
