Most viewers know Darth Vader’s helmet has played a role in the sequels, appearing briefly in The Force Awakens. Kylo Ren is obsessed with living up to his grandfather’s legacy and communed with the mask when he felt the pull of the light. With J.J. Abrams back at the helm, it’ll be interesting to see how Vader’s mask factors into The Rise of Skywalker. The final trailer included a quick shot of Rey and Kylo seemingly working together to destroy the mask. That led fans to speculate Palpatine had possessed the helmet and corrupted the young Ben Solo, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed at this point. Like most aspects about the film’s plot, Vader’s helmet is being kept under wraps.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E.
