Rosario Dawson suits up as Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, in new DC Universe fan art and also reacts to the artwork online. As the DCEU is ending this summer through The Flash movie, the new DC Universe is on its way from DC Studios, with several interconnected shows and films in work. James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are the co-CEOs for DC Studios, shared a number of projects for Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters,” with more series and movies set to be announced at a later time.
Anticipation is high for who will be playing who in Gunn’s new DC Universe, including some of the iconic Batman characters. One of them is Catwoman, and Dawson, who is no stranger to the iconic anti-hero, recently reacted to fan art of herself that was made by an artist on Reddit.
Dawson voiced Catwoman in Batman: The Audio Adventures, which released season 2 in October 2022 and is just one of the actress’ voice work in DC properties. She also lent her voice to Wonder Woman in the DC Animated Movie Universe, which ended with Justice League Dark: Apokolips War in 2020.
Will Catwoman Be In Batman: The Brave And The Bold?
One of the major DC Universe films that are in development is Batman: The Brave and The Bold, which will focus on Bruce Wayne and his biological son, Damian. Based on some of Grant Morrison’s Batman run, the film will explore the Dark Knight and his son, who is raised as an assassin. To this point, no creative team has been officially revealed for Batman: The Brave and The Bold.
However, one known factor may open the possibility for Catwoman to actually be in the Batman: The Brave and The Bold movie. One of the few details revealed back in January was that the new Batman reboot would feature other members of the Bat-Family, suggesting that this Caped Crusader is far along in his journey. Given Selina’s complex role in the DC mythology, this Catwoman could, at this point, already be an ally to Batman and the rest of the Bat-Family. It would also allow Gunn to differentiate this Catwoman from Zoë Kravitz’s iteration in The Batman franchise, where she is still in her early days.
Even if Catwoman doesn’t end up being in Batman: The Brave and The Bold, she will likely appear somewhere down the line in one of Gunn’s DC Universe projects. If the Bat-Family is already far along in their mythology in this continuity, it would be weird if Selina didn’t appear either as a supporting character or the lead of her own project. But for now, time will tell when the DC Universe will introduce Catwoman and other core characters from the Batman mythology.
