Hugh Jackman replaces Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy fan art and Reynolds is not happy.
Reynolds’ friend, Hugh Jackman, decided to give Reynolds a hand by sharing fan art that makes a quick edit to the Free Guy poster, replacing Reynolds’ head with Jackman’s. “A small edit to make this a much better promotional tool. Thank you @karthik_nj #repost,” Jackman wrote. Reynolds responded to express his anger and confusion over the p[oster, writing simply, “What the sh+++?!?” in the comments under Jackman’s post. You can take a look at Jackman’s post from Instagram below.
Aside from being a hilarious dig at Reynolds and his upcoming project, the facial switch can only serve to bring even more attention to Free Guy. Despite what Jackman (as well as the creator of the redesigned poster) may think, Reynolds is perfectly suited for his role as Guy in the action-comedy. Free Guy offers Reynolds a similar sort of opportunity for the chaotic comedy that made both Deadpool films such massive hits, and although the new film has only just released its first trailer, there is quite a lot to take in during its all too brief run time. While Jackman appears to be moving away from the action genre that he found success in as Wolverine, Reynolds seems to be hitting his stride with a style of filmmaking that the 43-year-old arguably does better than anyone else at the moment.
Free Guy opens in theaters on July 3, 2020.
