Ryan Reynolds has taken to Twitter to congratulate Joker on becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
“R-Rated box office congratulatory posts aren’t like the ones you’re used to…” Reynolds posted on Twitter. His message was accompanied by a Joker poster that read “You Mother F*cker.” The poster also featured a heart emoji followed by several names: Deadpool, Neo, Pennywise, Jesus, Hugh Jackman, The Wolfpack, Mr. Grey and Ted.
Some have wondered if the next installation of Deadpool would have a different rating since Disney’s acquisition of Fox properties. However, the writers of the Fox series, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have said that Disney and Marvel will allow Deadpool follow-ups to be R-rated.
On Friday it was confirmed that Joker had passed Deadpool’s $783 million and Deadpool 2’s $785 million to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
Whether that will be enough for Warner Bros to convince Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips to return for Joker 2, though, still remains to be seen.
