Samara Weaving is officially joining Henry Golding’s Snake Eyes as Scarlett.
Weaving has signed onto the Hasbro/Paramount project as the G.I. Joe team’s fan-favorite commando. The character is a counter-intelligence operative — usually seen with red hair, befitting her codename — partnered with Snake Eyes as the first female character on the team. The role was previously portrayed by Rachel Nichols in 2009’s G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.
This is going to the be third live-action film in the GI Joe franchise and the first to focus on Snake Eyes, who will be played by Henry Golding. This is Samara Weaving’s first big-budget, blockbuster role after her recent appearance in the smash-hit Ready or Not.

Weaving joins Úrsula Corberó, who signed on last month to play Baroness, as the production readies to begin filming in Vancouver and Tokyo. The film will reportedly follow Snake Eyes as he seeks revenge for his father’s death, pitting him against his old enemy and blood brother Storm Shadow.
Directed by Robert Schwentke, Snake Eyes stars Henry Golding as the eponymous G.I. Joe character. He is joined by Andre Koji as Storm Shadow, Iko Uwais as Hard Master, Úrsula Corberó as Baroness and Samara Weaving as Scarlett. It is scheduled to be released October 16, 2020.
