A fan-made image shows MCU fans what Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could look like in his iconic Symbiote suit. Since the character’s debut in Captain America Civil War, Tom Holland and Marvel Studio’s reboot of the famous wallcrawler has been a massive success with fans and critics alike. The new Spider-Man’s popularity only grew with his own films Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far from Home.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently in a transitional phase following the events of Avengers Endgame. One significant change is that Spider-Man, who was once an ancillary character in the MCU, is now one of the top tier heroes in the studio’s line-up. Bringing Spidey to the forefront of the MCU has done wonders for both Tom Holland’s and Spider-Man’s popularity. After the debut of Spider-Man: Far from Home, fans almost instantly began speculating what is next for Spider-Man in his third solo film. This speculation led to an outpouring of art and homemade trailers; some focused on the iconic suits Spider-Man could wear in the future.
Instagram user and freelance digital artist Yadvender Singh Rana, recently shared his concept of what Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could look like if he encountered the dreaded Venom Symbiote. As you can see from the image, the Symbiote suit is black, but it also has some texture to it. Almost like it is swirling around and moving while still being a solid mass. Much like the Iron Spider suit introduced in Avengers Infinity War, Yadvender Singh Rana’s concept would most likely be partially or totally CGI. The suit also has the web-shooters at the top of the wrist. This is a major departure from anything we have seen before but allows Spider-Man to grip his webs easier while swinging.
Yadvender Singh Rana’s artwork also hints at the storyline they imagine, or hope will take place in the third installment of the new Spider-Man franchise. That storyline, of course, would be the introduction of Venom in both the Spider-Man and Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comics, Peter Parker finds the symbiote, and it latches onto him. Once latched on, the symbiote begins to change Peter’s personality and eventually leads to the public turning on him – with the help of J. Jonah Jameson, who was conveniently introduced at the end of Spider-Man: Far from Home. After a while, Peter gets rid of the symbiote, but it finds Eddie Brock, who becomes Venom proper.
The idea of seeing Venom appear in the next Spider-Man is exciting; however, it could look to some fans like Marvel Studios is simply trying to redo the widely panned Spider-Man 3. With the release and popularity of Sony’s Venom, Marvel and Sony could find a way to merge the two properties, but that does not seem likely. Thus far, the MCU has made a point of creating their unique versions of popular comic book stories, with Captain America Civil War being the best example. It’s unclear what Marvel Studios’ plans are with the next Spider-Man film, but we do have the endless imagination of fans that help us speculate on what could happen in the future.
