Sony’s Spider-Man movie universe is developing a Madame Web film.

As reported by Collider, Sony has set Morbius writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless to pen the script for a Madame Web movie as part of the studio’s own Marvel franchise. Sony declined to comment on the project, but Collider reports studio executive Palak Patel will oversee it.

Cassandra Webb, aka Madame Web, debuted in 1980’s The Amazing Spider-Man #210 by Denny O’Neil and John Romita Jr. A mutant, Cassandra has a range of superhuman abilities, including telepathy and clairvoyance. She suffers from a condition called myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular disease that left her on a life support system. However, her abilities allow her to work as medium and help heroes like Spider-Man. Before her death, she transferred her powered to Julia Carpenter, another Spider-Woman.

Madame Web is just one more project in Sony’s burgeoning slate of Spider-Man-related films. Venom was a smash-hit for the studio this time last year, despite the fact Spider-Man never appeared. A sequel to that film is now in development. Production on Morbius is also underway. Silver and Black, a solo film starring Black Cat and Silver Sable, is still in the works as well.

Sony’s Madame Web does not yet have a release date.
