Spider-Man Recruits Mysterio Into the Avengers in New Far From Home TV Spot

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have released a new television spot for Spider-Man: Far From Home. The new spot shows Tom Holland’s Spider-Man asking Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio to join the Avengers.

In this television spot, Fury says that he is looking for an Avenger. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the other Avengers are unavailable, so Spidey gets the call. But Fury also says he needs a new team. And so, Spidey extends a hand to Mysterio and recruits him into this new Avengers squad. You can watch the TV spot below.

If Mysterio does ultimately prove to be the film’s main villain, it won’t prove as shocking a twist – to comic-book fans, at least – as the reveal of Vulture being Liz’s dad in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Still, given the seemingly budding friendship between the two and Peter’s desire to fill the Tony Stark-shaped hole in both his life and the world, it would still prove to be a savagely emotional one. And any lack of surprise, for longterm fans, will be offset by finally getting to see the longtime foes finally come face-to-face on the big screen.

Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters July 2.
