Some lucky Star Wars fans were treated to a first look at some of the products that will be on display on Triple Force Friday, including the reforged Skywalker Lightsaber.
Michelle Buchman, who runs the official Star Wars Twitter account, tweeted a fantastic shot of the new Skywalker lightsaber, repaired to working order with a new metal-molded midsection. The weapon will no doubt feature prominently in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Other products featured in the post are Kylo Ren’s lightsaber and helmet, and the medal of Yavin, presented to our favorite classic Star Wars heroes at the end of Return of the Jedi.
Another lightsaber came into question this summer during the D23 Expo when Lucasfilm showed off some footage of Rey in black rocking a red dual-lightsaber. That sent the fanbase into an absolute frenzy as they tried to figure out what this “Dark Rey” could mean for the upcoming film.
Fans will remember that the weapon was badly damaged during the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. After agreeing to disagree about their moral values and trajectories of fate, Kylo Ren and Rey struggled violently over the lightsaber. As a result, it was split in two, light exploding from it and knocking Kylo Ren unconscious. Rey then escaped with the broken artifact. She is seen at the end of the movie holding the two jagged pieces of Luke’s saber, as she mourns his loss with Leia.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the final film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and closes the book on the Skywalker saga. Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams return to direct following Rian Johnson’s work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
