Lando Calrissian has a lot of catching up to do in Star Wars: Episode IX, especially since he was entirely absent from the first two installments in the Sequel Trilogy, but while Billy Dee Williams may be late to the party, rumor has it that his role in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming trilogy-closer will bring us more than just a quick nostalgia buzz.
As fans await more information about Star Wars: Episode IX, a new leak may showcase new characters and new designs for our existing heroes and villains.
The image, which was posted on Reddit by user JediPaxis, shows Poe, Rey, Kylo Ren and Lando Calrissian in new or altered costumes. However, it’s not just returning characters in the image. There are also images of previously unseen characters. Although it’s not clear if this leak is legitimate, the poster claimed that their anonymous source has proven reliable in the past.

This leak may also give fans their first look at Lando, who will be played by original actor Billy Dee Williams. Reports have said that he’ll be instrumental to the plot, and while we still have no idea how he may factor into things, we at least have an idea now of how he’ll look when we see him next. The leaked image seems to suggest that Lando’s in the upcoming movie will resemble what Donald Glover wore in Solo: A Star Wars Story, with the yellow shirt and dark cape.
Given the fan favorite’s dashing appearance in the Original Trilogy, as well as Donald Glover’s take on Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story, it was always expected that he’d have his trusty cape once again. After all, aside from that odd moment near the end of The Empire Strikes Back where he appears to be wearing Han Solo’s clothes, we never see him without some fabric draped over his back, and it’s not like Abrams would break from nostalgic tradition for Episode IX.
Other characters in this photo include Kylo Ren, whose helmet has evidently been pieced back together after getting smashed in The Last Jedi, and a “new droid that will annoy BB-8.” These images also tease the additions of several new aliens, though it’s unclear what role they’ll play in the film. Some of the aliens look small enough to play a similar role to the that of the Porgs on Crait in The Last Jedi, though they’re far inferior in terms of adorableness.
