Rise of Skywalker Poster

The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker RealD 3D poster recreates the iconic 1977 Star Wars movie poster.

The newly released RealD 3D poster features the stars of the sequel trilogy and yet somehow — in its own subtle way — evokes promotional material for Star Wars: A New Hope, the Star Wars film that began this beloved story about space-faring knights, an evil Empire and the powerful but mysterious Force.

On Twitter, Star Wars unveiled the new Rise of Skywalker RealD 3D poster, which puts Rey, Finn and Poe front and center, with Kylo Ren’s repaired helmet looming large above the heroes. Also featured on the new poster are the Knights of Ren, Resistance allies Rose Tico (Loan Kelly Marie Tran), Jannah (Naomi Ackie) and Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) as well as droids C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), R2-D2, BB-8 and D-O. The design of the poster is reminiscent of the Star Wars 1977 movie poster. Check out the new Rise of Skywalker poster below and a comparison to the 1977 Star Wars poster above.

Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film arrives on Dec. 20.
