DC has offered a first look at their new animated adaptation of Superman: Red Son and the full voice cast has also been announced along with the characters they are playing.

The film’s main characters, Superman and Lex Luthor, will be voiced by Jason Isaacs and Diedrich Bader, respectively. Joining them are Amy Acker as Lois Lane, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, Phil Morris as James Olsen, Paul Williams as Brainiac, Sash Roizand Phil LaMarr as Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart, and Roger Graig Smith as Batman. Travis Willingham is slated to voice John F. Kennedy and Superior Man, William Sayers voices Joseph Stalin and Ave Zoli voices Svetlana.

The movie is based on the three issue miniseries of the same name from 2003. It was originally written by Marvel’s Civil War and Old Man Logan author, Mark Millar.

The story’s premise explored an alternate reality where baby Kal-El’s rocket ship landed in the Soviet Union, rather than the United States, with Superman ultimately becoming a symbol for Soviet values such as communism and expansionism. The Eisner-nominated series has long been a favorite alternate-reality tale, and in recent years has been featured in DC’s restructured multiverse, while also seeing as inspiration for a major storyline in the fourth season of The CW’s Supergirl.
