Early unused concept art from Avengers: Endgame features an epic scene in which Thanos punches through Captain America’s shield.
Shared by Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding, the artwork of Thanos and Captain America is presented mostly in black-and-white, save for Cap’s shield. “Unused shield breaking idea from Avengers: Endgame!” Meinerding said about the image.
Avengers: Endgame featured Thanos’ final battle with Captain America and the rest of the Avengers. The film served as an end story to several of Marvel’s heroes, including Steve Rodgers/Captain America and Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Ryan Meinerding has been working with Marvel Studios since 2003’s Iron Man and has since served as Head of Visual Development on many films set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meinerding has also worked on many films outside the MCU, including 2009’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, 2011’s Cowboys & Aliens and 2012’s John Carter.
Next up for the MCU is Cate Shortland’s Black Widow solo film, which has recently been delayed indefinitely due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Other upcoming MCU films include Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and an untitled Spider-Man 3 film.
