The Witcher season 2 fan art combines Henry Cavill’s Geralt and Black Suit Superman into one character. Cavill is well-known for both Geralt and the DC Extended Universe’s Clark Kent, though his Witcher role is more recent. The Netflix series is based on the popular books by Andrzej Sapkowski, which have also been adapted into video games. The Witcher season 1 was a success, thanks in part to Cavill’s performance. Season 2 began filming before the coronavirus hit but was able to resume production after a delay of a few months. Earlier this week, Cavill provided a first look at The Witcher season 2, showing Geralt in a new costume.
Cavill’s Superman will get a new look of his own when the Justice League Snyder Cut releases next year. In it, Clark will finally wear his famed Black Suit, which was missing from the theatrical cut of the movie. Before the Justice League announcement, Zack Snyder revealed an image of Cavill in the Black Suit, increasing anticipation for the film. A clip revealed over the summer showed the suit in action, which should play a big role in Snyder’s cut of the movie.
Recently, artist mizuriau combined the new armor Geralt will wear in The Witcher season 2 with Cavill’s look as Black Suit Superman. The result is striking, with Geralt’s hair and the bulkier elements of his armor complimenting Superman’s red eyes and trademark crest. Check out the image below:
It makes sense to combine Geralt and Superman, as they’re arguably Cavill’s most popular characters. The art highlights the similarities between the two, especially with the decision to feature Black Suit Superman instead of Cavill’s standard hero. The Superman who wears the Black Suit is a slightly grittier version of the character, making him a better fit with Geralt. This choice also makes the art more seamless; Geralt tends to stick with more muted colors, so Superman’s usual bright red and blue would look out of place.
2021 could be a big year for Cavill with the release of the Justice League Snyder Cut and the possibility of The Witcher season 2 coming out in the same year. Cavill’s Superman is said to play a big role in the Snyder Cut, which could help Cavill’s future in the DCEU. Meanwhile, if The Witcher is able to complete production in time for release next year, Geralt will continue to be one of the series’ most important characters. In the interim, fan artists will show off their creativity with more pieces honoring Cavill’s beloved roles.
