The first concept art from Thor: Love and Thunder has surfaced, and it came from a rather unorthodox source.
During Taika Waititi’s live commentary of Thor: Ragnarok, the Art of Marvel Twitter account, which usually shares concept art from Marvel Studios projects, posted screenshots of concept art revealed by Waititi.
The first image features concept art that strongly resembles New Asgard. After the original Asgard was destroyed in Ragnarok, the survivors settled in Norway. New Asgard was first shown in Avengers: Endgame when Hulk and Rocket Raccoon visit to recruit Thor.
The second image features the insectoid alien Miek, or potentially another member of his species, wearing a new white and red suit of battle armor. Another piece showcases a similar alien wearing a female two-piece business suit, perhaps teasing that we’ll see more of life in New Asgard, as well as Miek’s race and homeworld.
Written and directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. The film arrives in theaters Feb. 8, 2022.
