Venom star Tom Hardy seemingly confirms Andy Serkis as the director of the upcoming Marvel film from Sony in a recent Instagram post. Serkis is particularly well-known for his work in visual effects and motion capture on movies like Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, and founded a performance capture studio called The Imaginarium – which could make him the ideal director for a movie with a CGI main character.

On Wednesday, Hardy took to Instagram to share a black-and-white photo of Andy Serkis, who had begun to be on the rumored shortlist late last week. The photo has since been deleted, but a screenshot can be found below.
While this isn’t necessarily confirmation that Serkis will direct Venom 2, the post – and the fact that Hardy deleted it – is certainly piquing people’s interest. Also on the rumored shortlist with Serkis were Bumblebee director Travis Knight and Planet of the Apes‘ Rupert Wyatt.
Starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Venom 2 does not yet have a release date.
