Chris Hemsworth punched his on-screen Marvel brother Tom Hiddleston while filming a scene for the first Avengers movie.
In a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Hiddleston recalled a unique time when Hemsworth punched him in the face…literally.
Hiddleston explained how on film it’s “all about angles,” and how you’re trying to get the angle of the story and you only have to do it once to capture the perfect moment. A scene in the first Avengers movie had Thor strike Loki across the face, but there was a certain head ornament getting in the way.
“I was wearing the horns which weigh about thirty pounds,” Hiddleston said. “And I couldn’t sell the…smack. So, I said to Chris, just hit me in the face.”
Tom Hiddleston is set to reprise his role as the God of Mischief in the upcoming Marvel Studios series Loki for the Disney Plus streaming service. The series will feature Tom Hiddleston as the past version of Loki (who escaped custody by using the Space Stone during the Avengers’ time heist) and follows the character as he becomes embroiled in historical events.
Hiddleston is currently making his Broadway debut on the show, Betrayal, in New York City.
