Tom Holland is excited to see Robert Pattinson play Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman film.
Going undercover online (via GQ), the young actor delved into a myriad of topics and answered a selection of questions. After discussing everything from his skincare routine and the amount of coffee he drinks to previous iterations of Spider-Man, the subject of Batman came around. Responding to a (presumably rhetorical) question that pondered how good Holland would be in the cape and cowl, the actor had this to say:
“Well, I wouldn’t be as good as my friend Robert Pattinson. He’s gonna kill it as Batman. I don’t know if that’s actually true. Is he actually playing Batman? He is? That’s sick. He’s gonna kill it. Um, and I wouldn’t want to go up against him. Because he’s a bit of a beast!”
Pattinson was cast as the new Batman in late May, following Ben Affleck’s departure from the role. While some were happy with the casting announcement, others were displeased and even started petitions to get Pattinson removed from the role.

Both of the British-born actors have a number of other projects in the pipeline. Holland recently filmed reshoots on Chaos Walking and has lent his voice to Pixar’s Onward. Pattinson, meanwhile, will continue to juggle more arthouse projects with his first return to blockbuster franchise fare since the Twilight saga. As well as starring in Christopher Nolan’s mysterious project, Tenet, he will co-star with Willem Dafoe in the claustrophobic horror-drama The Lighthouse.
The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, who will also produce alongside Dylan Clark. While casting is still underway, the film is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021.
