In a since deleted social media post, Tom Hardy shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Venom 2 as production begins.
While Venom may not have received the most positive reviews from critics, the Tom Hardy film proved to success with audiences and launched Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters. It wasn’t long before a Venom sequel was officially put in development and it appears Tom Hardy has now begun filming the highly-anticipated film.
On his Instagram account, Hardy shared a behind-the-scenes picture, confirming Venom 2 has started filming (corroborating earlier rumors). He has now deleted the post, but Reddit user MrStark3000 was able to snag a screenshot. Check it out in the space below:
That Hardy deleted his post indicates he jumped the gun and made an announcement before Sony wanted. Studios like to make formal reveals about when the most-anticipated projects on their slate have started filming (usually in conjunction with a full casting list), so it’s possible Sony had something special planned. In all likelihood, they’ll probably come out with something in the relatively near future to start the Venom 2 hype train.
Directed by Andy Serkis from a script written by Kelly Marcel, Venom 2 stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, and Woody Harrelson as Carnage. No Time to Die star Naomie Harris was recently reported to be in talks for the role of Shriek.
