The Twitter account for the upcoming movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, has just announced that there will be an online event called “Venom Day” on September 27 to promote the film. The first Venom film was released back on October 5, 2018, and while it was not well-received by critics, the audience rating was much higher. The box office for the movie was also very profitable, bringing in a whopping $855 million worldwide. Shortly after its release, the sequel film was announced. Let There Be Carnage, like many other recent movies, has had its release date shifted around multiple times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is finally almost here.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage takes place a year after the events of the first movie. It will see Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) dealing with his body being the host of alien symbiote, Venom, and also attempting to rekindle his career as an investigative journalist by interviewing serial killer, Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson). Kasady ends up becoming the host for the symbiote containing Carnage and escapes prison. Eddie/Venom will have to stop Carnage and Kasady’s girlfriend, Frances Barrison (Naomie Harris), the host of another symbiote called Shriek. The upcoming sequel will also star Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Peggy Lu.

Now, in preparation for the release of the movie, the official VenomMovie Twitter account for Venom: Let There Be Carnage has announced Venom Day, with a promo video for the online event. The video posted is short, but teases excitement to come. Check out the tweet down below:

What exactly Venom Day is remains to be seen, but it should be exciting for fans of the upcoming sequel. There could be more marketing materials released, such as TV spots, posters, or behind-the-scenes videos, since the film’s release date is coming up very soon. It could also potentially tease more involving Sony’s Spider-Man character movie universe. Sony has some other upcoming Spider-Man related projects, including Morbius and Madame Web. While the main focus will be on Venom: Let There Be Carnage, there is still a chance for Sony to reveal what their next steps are. There has also been a lot of talk online about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man crossing over with Venom, so there could potentially be a tease for that too.

Regardless of what Sony has to say on September 27 for Venom Day, fans of the movie will definitely want to check it out. There could be many teases and announcements, or just some fun pieces of marketing to build up the final few days before the release. Fans will see how all of this will tie in to the movie when Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits theaters on October 1.
