The first Wonder Woman 1984 trailer is released online.
The trailer was live-streamed from its debut at CCXP in Brazil on the official Wonder Woman Twitter account. A previous teaser that released yesterday announced the time of the live-stream and featured brief glimpses of new footage.
While the trailer doesn’t reveal how Steve Trevor returns, it does offer fans a first look at Wonder Woman’s Golden Eagle Armor that was teased in the very first Wonder Woman 1984 poster. Further, the trailer officially introduces both Maxwell Lord and Barbara Minerva. As seen at the start of the video, Barbara is Diana’s friend, with the two of them sharing a drink and discussing their past loves. The trailer doesn’t showcase Cheetah, however, which may indicate Wiig’s villain will be saved for a future trailer, possibly because the filmmakers need to complete some VFX work on the costume. Jenkins did mention during the CCXP panel that much of the Cheetah costume is practical effects, but it’s elevated by some other visual effects.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
