A new trailer for Avengers: Endgame was released during Super Bowl LIII.
The promo opens with a fast-moving montage of the heroes who suffered at the hands (er, fingers) of Thanos’ tragic snap at the end Avengers; Infinity War, referred to in the MCU as “The Decimation.” If one pauses, you will see Doctor Strange, the Wasp, Nick Fury, Vision, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Bucky Barnes and Spider-Man. It’s sad, but a good way to remind audiences about what’s at stake in Endgame.
In the TV spot, we see the devastation of the world after Thanos’ snap — empty cities, empty stadiums, a poster about missing people. It’s brief, but the impact is huge: everyone (well, half of everyone) is gone.
What’s most surprising about this trailer is that it looks like Endgame isn’t picking up directly after the events of Infinity War. Instead, it looks like some time has passed, but that the Avengers crew can’t let it go and are still looking for a way to undo the dusting.
Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26 — after Captain Marvel on March 8 and before Spider-Man: Far from Home on July 5.
