The first trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City delivers the “origin of evil” as zombie dogs and monstrous creatures run amok.
“Every story has a beginning,” Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario) says as the trailer begins. A group of heavily armed Umbrella Corporation guards are also seen blocking a street. “Discover the origin of evil,” she continues as we see a look at the “Welcome to Raccoon City” sign and a timestamp of “September 30, 1998.”
We then move to Claire joined by her brother Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell) while he tries to talk her out of the old conspiracy stories of their youth being true. Determined to expose the Umbrella Corporation, Claire pulls out a homemade videotape with a person attempting to expose the evil company. “I’m afraid Claire,” the man says. “I’m afraid of what they’re going to do to this town. Quick scenes display how the townspeople of Raccoon City are becoming sick from whatever Umbrella is secretly doing.
Even more footage is shown that bring back memories of the jump-scare scenes from the Resident Evil video games. The siblings head to the Raccoon City Police Department to gear up with weapons and backup before turning their attention to Umbrella headquarters. It’s a team of four up against a building filled with deranged monsters out for blood.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City arrives in theaters Nov. 24.
