Foundation Season 2 Trailer
Foundation Season 2 Trailer

The teaser trailer for Foundation Season 2 just dropped, giving fans their first proper look at the Apple TV+ sci-fi series’ next batch of episodes.

Shared via the official Apple TV YouTube channel, the teaser confirms that Foundation Season 2 picks up more than a century after the events of the first season’s finale. It teases the conflict brewing throughout the galaxy, with new antagonist Queen Sareth (Ella-Rae Smith) poised to go to war with Brother Day (Lee Pace) and the empire he commands. The Foundation Season 2 teaser also hints at a potential falling out between Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) and his protege Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell), who — along with Gaal’s daughter Salvor Hardin (Leah Harvey) — appear in several emotionally-charged scenes late in the teaser’s 1:30 minute runtime.

Apple TV+ announced that it was renewing Foundation for a second season in October 2021. The streaming platform then released a first-look photo and new cast and character information in February of the following year. Like its predecessor, Foundation Season 2 is based on celebrated scribe Isaac Asimov’s novel series of the same name, an adaptation of which was long thought impossible due to its sweeping narrative, anthology-like nature, and cerebral tone. Series co-creator David S. Goyer touched on these challenges in an interview prior to Season 1’s release, noting that certain aspects of source material had to be changed for the show to work.

Foundation Season 1 is currently streaming on Apple TV+. Season 2 is set to premiere its first episode on the platform on July 14, 2023, and will run for 10 episodes in total.
