Squid Game Season 2 Teaser

Netflix Tudum has revealed a teaser for the second season of the massive hit that was Squid Game, which unveiled the cast of the upcoming season. Revealed as part of the ongoing global fan event, Squid Game season two will take audiences back into this world of merciless capitalism, brutal violence, and kid’s games and will be bringing in returning players and new contenders. Watch the teaser trailer below:

Released back in September 2021 to mass acclaim, the first season of Squid Game centers on a contest in which 456 players, drawn from different walks of life but each deeply in debt, play a set of children’s games with deadly consequences in the hopes of winning a 45.6 billion Won prize.

Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk and starring Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, HoYeon Jung, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, and Kim Joo-ryoung, the first series of Squid Game quickly became a pop culture phenomenon, receiving many award nominations, including 14 nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards and walking away with the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The franchise has since expanded beyond the main show, spawning the reality competition Squid Game: The Challenge. Which hopefully will not bear too many similarities to the fictional series…

The first season ended with a tease of things to come, as main character Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) decides not to board a plane to see his daughter, but to instead bring an end to the horrific games. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has teased what’s to come in Squid Game season two, and how Seong Gi-hun has changed going into the second series. “I mean the biggest change will be the change of [Lee Jung-jae’s] character,” he explained last year. “Because he’s a different guy in season 2. You know he turned his hair color to red and he became like something more like, serious, more like going for revenge so his character will be totally different.”
