James Gunn has revealed an extended trailer and poster for his superhero horror movie Brightburn.

Gunn unveiled the Brightburn poster on his Twitter account today, shortly before revealing an extended 3-minute trailer for the film. You can watch the new promo above (via Comic Network), followed by the one-sheet.

In this trailer, no more information is given about the plot or characters of the film, but the horror elements are clear. We don’t just see the damage Brandon causes directly; we also see the path of destruction he leaves behind. His entrance causes glass to shatter from the bulbs above the waitress, damaging one of her eyes and causing to her flee before Brandon ever actually shows up in that chilling mask.

Brightburn takes a classic superhero origin story and turns it on its head: an alien child crash-lands on Earth from a distant planet and is found by a humble couple. However, instead of growing up to be a superhero, the child turns into a powerful monster.

Brightburn is produced by Gunn and written by his brother Brian and cousin Mark. David Yarovesky will direct. Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner. It premieres May 24, 2019.
