As the new Disney+ is preparing to launch in November this year to compete among the other streaming giants, it’s good to learn about whether the service would be worth the switch.
Only a few weeks ago, Disney revealed their ultra-low price plan of $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year which is half the price Netflix is charging today. However, a report from Ampere Analysis estimates that the Disney+ content library will only be equivalent to about less than 20% the size of Netflix’s content library.
Below are charts that show Disney+’s comparison to other VOD services:

Despite Disney+ having a lighter lineup than other services, Disney+ is focused on bringing massive quality instead of quantity. The existing U.S. catalog of Disney content ranks above both Amazon and Netflix. Sure, Disney is the new player in this market, but they are well positioned to be a significant SVOD player in the near future.
According to Dallas Lawrence, the chief brand officer at ad-tech vendor OpenX, Disney+ will establish itself as the king of content.
“If content is king, Disney owns the castle,” Lawrence stated. He also added that Disney operates an “unrivaled content factory of beloved movie franchises and television shows.”
Disney+ will arrive in the U.S. on November 12, 2019.
