We finally have our first look at Sebastian Stan returning to the MCU on the set of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
JustJared posted a collection of pictures of Stan on set, and the photos appear to show the legendary Winter Soldier in civilian clothes. This is a highly-anticipated project that fans are eager to catch glimpses of, but it is hard to glean anything from the photos, as Stan is wearing normal, everyday clothing while standing on a sidewalk. Like previous bits of concept art have suggested, Bucky is sporting shorter hair this time around, reminiscent of how he first appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger. This could indicate Bucky is trying to put his past as the Winter Soldier behind him by cutting his hair and reclaiming his own identity.
With Disney Plus finally unleashed upon the world, filming for the upcoming The Falcon and The Winter Soldier show has begun in Atlanta. Announced around the same time as Avengers: Endgame‘s release, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier television show will focus on what happens to the characters after Captain America retired. The show will see the return of Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon), with the latter now dealing with taking on the mantle of Captain America.
There isn’t much to see in these new set photos, but there is still enough to increase excitement. Bucky is a fan-favorite character, and his arc in the show is bound to be interesting. Bucky has never had a story that doesn’t involve his best friend Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), so this is an opportunity to show who he is on his own. Now that Steve is officially retired, Bucky has to confront a modern world he never wanted to be a part of while also recovering from years of HYDRA brainwashing. The reemergence of Baron Zemo suggests he won’t get much breathing room, but hopefully, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier allows for some good character development in between all the action.
